Awakening Awareness ~Being Present in Consciousness~
We begin developing coping skills the moment we are born. By the time we are 12 months old, such skills are shaping our beliefs and behaviors, and by the age of three, the patterns associated with them are largely established. As a result of these coping mechanisms, our responses to life situations often run on automatic and we believe that life is as we have determined it, what we “know” to be true. In other words, the coping skills that previously helped us to survive may no longer work in our adult life, yet may be so entrenched that we are unaware of how their patterns govern us day to day and even moment to moment.
With the help of an experienced professional you can gain new ways of viewing situations. Working to develop awareness will allow you to make new and different choices that will help make your life more deeply and personally meaningful. By looking at how your mind works—automatically—in response to situations that stir up feelings of safety and reactivity in relationships, we will work to help you achieve better understanding. This in turn will help you to make choices based on what you want in the here and now. Changing old belief systems and patterns of behavior into empowered and illuminated positive choices will offer new perspectives and paths of thought that will enhance your life and all of your relationships. Cultivating confidence will assist you in new ways of being in the world
Some people may want to try hypnotherapy, which is a safe and gentle way of bridging the subconscious mind where negative thoughts may automatically regulate your feelings and behaviors. The process of changing negative thinking takes concentrated effort as it requires substituting a dysfunctional thought with a functional one. Once we have worked to identify the unconscious negative thinking patterns we then begin to substitute a positive functional thought of new awareness replacing automatic thoughts that are no longer true.
